Where You Can Process Your In-Person Therapy Session in Chevy Chase, MD
Friendship heights has more to offer than just amazing therapists. 🙂 We have been finding that some people have been taking the entire morning or afternoon for wellness when they visit our in-person offices.
As body-mind practitioners, Monarch therapists strongly endorse this idea! Taking some time to relax your body and mind after therapy allows the insight you have worked so hard to foster settle into your bones. Below, find some ideas for continuing to restore your body and mind after the session has ended. All are withing walking distance of Monarch’s in-person Chevy Chase office.
Chevy Chase Building Atrium
It would be hard to get more convenient than the Atrium of the Chevy Chase Building – it is actually on the first floor of the same building as our offices. This space allow for some privacy and protection from the weather while you still have the feeling of being outdoors.
Zen Reflexology
Did you know that there is an acupressure/reflexology studio right across the street from our Friendship Heights office? Zen acupressure & reflexology offers massage and reflexology. Be aware that their massage does not offer very much privacy, and that the masseuses are not at all shy about going after your glutes, so if you are feeling at all vulnerable this is likely not the choice for you. The reflexology/foot massage option is still a wonderful way to care for your body after a therapy session.
Western Grove Urban Park
Western Grove park is around the corner from Monarch’s office. When you leave the building, turn right and then make a left by the Amazon Fresh. This little oasis offers benches in the shade and in the sun. There are fields of grass to help you feel expansive and large, mature trees to help you feel, forgive the pun, rooted.
Merritt Gallery
You may not be in the market for fine art, but I have found the Merritt Gallery to be very welcoming to visitors who are just hoping to appreciate the work. Pondering artwork stimulates the right brain, the same part of the brain that processes emotions.
Friendship Heights Park
It’s just a few benches with some trees and greenery around it, but Friendship Heights park can give you a place to sit and mull over the changes you are making in therapy. If you are choosing between Friendship Heights and Western Grove Urban Park, the deciding factor is likely to be which way you are headed. The two are in somewhat opposite directions from our offices.
