Anxiety treatment

Anxiety symptoms can get in the way of so many aspects of life. Anxiety takes away your ability to live life to the fullest, and it can even hurt your relationships. It can also make it more difficult to be successful at work or at school.

Maybe you feel like you always have to be perfect. Small events make you feel tense, or you’ve even had a panic attack. At this point stress, fear, and worry is getting in the way of you living life to the fullest.

Some anxiety is normal, but if this feels familiar, you may have an anxiety disorder and should speak to a therapist. While some believe anxiety drives productivity, research shows it actually hinders decision-making, concentration, and overall productivity. You can still be a high-achieving, successful person after treatment.

Real change is possible.

What causes anxiety?

If you suffer from an anxiety disorder, you are certainly not alone.  According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, 40 million adults, or 18% of Americans, have an anxiety disorder.  For some people, biological factors, such as the chemicals in your brain or your family’s history of anxiety, make them more likely to feel anxious. For others, it may be caused by unrealistic thoughts or expectations or by negative life events.

Regardless, the good news is that anxiety disorders are very treatable with counseling. During therapy, our anxiety therapists try to help you understand what is causing you to feel anxious. By understanding what is causing you to feel anxious, we can then help you learn new tools to cope with distress.

Anxiety is not your fault. It is not caused by anything you have or haven’t done. Like many other illnesses, effective treatments exist to ease your suffering. With treatment, you can live a happier, healthier life.

Signs of anxiety you may be experiencing

  • Obsessional compulsive disorder may include obsessions (thoughts you can’t shake), compulsions (things it feels like you are compelled to do), or both. Using a variety of methods such as ERP (exposure and response prevention therapy) CBT and others, a Monarch therapist can help you combat.

  • Panic attacks can make you feel crazy. But a panic attack is just a survival response in the body, operating at the wrong time and for the wrong reasons. Sometimes, people might even avoid certain places or situations because they are afraid to have a panic attack. A therapist can help you to regain control, rewiring your brain and body so that you are able to maintain calm and re-discover freedom.

  • People with GAD may feel like they are always worried about something. As soon as one issue is resolved, another comes up. This is because the anxiety remains unprocessed. However, a skilled therapist can help you to bring order to your thoughts and peace to your feelings.

Therapy can help you reduce or manage anxious thoughts

Our anxiety therapists want to help you lead a more peaceful and calm life. Therefore, our work together often focuses on helping you begin to laugh more freely, relax more fully, and experience a lasting peace of mind. Many clients describe feeling unburdened and free for the first time in their lives after receiving therapy at Monarch Wellness. This is our goal for you. That you’re able to have a safe space to express your feelings, gain new insight into your own anxiety or worry and then regain control over your life.

Our approach to anxiety treatment

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy aims to challenge negative ways of thinking and behaviors. Together with your therapist, you’ll take a close look at common anxious thoughts that come up for you. Then, you’ll learn new tools you can use when you feel upset or anxious. You’ll learn to address anxious thoughts head-on and reduce your anxiety.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT or Dialectical Behavior Therapy helps you fully accept yourself while giving you the tools to live a more full life. As you move through DBT, you’ll be. better able to handle your anxiety and fully accept the present moment. At the same time, you’ll be able to hold true that you want to live a less anxious life and see ways to move forward toward your goals. Your therapist will help you learn how to manage the distress you feel caused by anxiety and teach you mindfulness skills.

  • Integrative Psychotherapy

In integrative psychotherapy, the therapist trains in many modalities and draws from a variety of methods according to the needs of the moment and the client. Skillful application of ACT, DBT, CBT and other methods for anxiety can help you to start feeling calm, whole and well.

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy aims to help you accept anxious thoughts and behaviors. At the same time, it helps you interact with your anxiety symptoms in a way that doesn’t impact your ability to function well and live a full life.  Through this world, you are able to begin making changes in order to lead a calmer life.

  • Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the practice of focusing on the present moment and how you are feeling right now. Over time, mindfulness helps clients become more aware of their body and their emotions, reduce anxiety, and focus their attention.
