Taylor Rapuano LPC (She/Her)

“I view my clients as the experts on their own experience, and our therapy as a space for building deeper connections to their own innate strength and wisdom. ”

Therapy with Me

The heart of my approach is a strong relationship and therapeutic rapport with clients.  I also value active, engaged listening.

In practice, that means that although I let client goals guide our work, we’re always exploring, collaborating, and evolving together—and it's our relationship itself that serves as the catalyst for change.

My work is anchored in a deep commitment to evidence-based approaches, and my clinical style is integrative and eclectic.

I’m passionate about cultural humility in psychotherapy, especially for members of marginalized communities, as well as LGBTQIA+ issues.

I work from a humanistic, feminist perspective, recognizing the importance of examining my clients’ social, political and intergenerational contexts and how these factors impact them in the present moment.

Training & Education

My clinical experience has been across diverse client populations and treatment settings. Before joining Monarch, I worked as an outpatient therapist with clients using a comprehensive DBT approach.  These clients included people with profound mood dysregulation, trauma responses, PTSD and complex PTSD.

Prior to that, I was a primary therapist at the Renfrew Center of Bethesda treating women and adolescents with eating disorders in partial-hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient levels of care.  Here, I offered group, individual and family therapy for clients dealing with issues ranging from anorexia to ARFID to binge eating.

I also have extensive experience working with adult and adolescent substance use clients.  My focus with these clients was on addressing co-occurring diagnoses at both partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient levels of care.
